Bush urges Tibet dialogue - Czech President will avoid Olympics
Big News Network (UPI) Wednesday 26th March, 2008
US President George Bush has joined world leaders in urging his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao to engage in dialogue with the Dalai Lama.
Mr Bush, in expressing his concern about the situation in Tibet, argued for allowing diplomats and journalists to visit the region.
The Chinese government accuses the Dalai Lama of orchestrating the protests to sabotage the Beijing Olympics.
President Bush has said he will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games despite appeals from human rights activists to stay away.
Meanwhile, the European Union parliament has said it may boycott the Beijing Olympics over what it calls “cultural genocide” in Tibet.
President Hans-Gert Pottering said in an interview with German newspaper Bild am Sonntag: 'If there are no signals of compromise, then I believe the boycott measures would be justified.'
'We must not exclude the possibility of a boycott of the Beijing Olympics. We want them to be a success, but not at the expense of the cultural genocide of Tibetans'.
As a first gesture, Czech President Vaclav Klaus has already said he would not attend the opening ceremony or any of the Olympic Games.
He gave no reason for his decision but said it should not be seen as punishment for China's crackdown in Tibet.
Mr Havel said: 'I do not plan to travel to the Olympics in China, but my motivation is not a threat to China.'
Three other Czech officials have also said they will not go to the Beijing Olympics because of the situation in Tibet.

Bush urges Tibet dialogue - Czech President will avoid OlympicsA tug of war is going on, between the people who respect the right for people to choose for themselves their destiny through honest free elections to achieve their independence from their mother country.
But it seems that the mother country does not want to have these people to decide for themselves their destiny, and it is trying to maintain these rebelious people from creating lawlessness and disorder, each claiming that human rights are being abused, and the international community is arroused by these events, the world press is being denied to participate in bringing to the world the news of what is going on in this territory that has been closed to them.
The question is, that law and order must be maintained to guarantee the safety of the poulation of this territory, but at the same time excessive force must not be used, and this is the second part of the question on hand.
When the free press is shut out, and there is no reporting, people automatically begin to think that human rights are being abused, and possibly excessive force is being used to maintain law and order.
This problem with this rebellious territory will continue, unless a meeting of the minds takes place between those that want autonomy and those that want to keep their territory under their own control.
I still believe that a if determined portion of any country wants to be sef governing, that right must not be denied to them, and peacefully throug a free and impartial election their freedom of choice must not be denied to them.

Cultural genocide, yeah rightCultural genocide is no big deal, it happens everywhere, all the time. For example, the South Americans all speak Spanish instead of Mayan, and worships at churches rather than at the Mayan temples, since the Spaniards massacred their ancestors. |

PeaceNothing is permanent, we are reading history, No dynasty ever remained forever, everyone will get their freedom, it may come now or in 500 years. Only time decides the fate of Human Beings. Patience is the path,No one expected 55 nations under British Empire to get independent but all did. Anything, anytime ,anywhere can happen miracles. God is watching........ |

China rejects Bush’s call to make peace with Dalai Lama
27 Mar 2008, WASHINGTON: China has refused to give in to US President George W. Bush call to speak to the Dalai Lama to end the Tibet crisis.
]
On Wednesday, Bush told Chinese leader Hu Jintao that the bloody unrest was worrying. He also asked Hu to allow full access to diplomats and journalists in Tibet. But Hu restated Beijing’s position that the exiled spiritual leader was fomenting the unrest to sabotage the Games. Bush’s telephone call to Hu came more than two weeks after the biggest protests against Chinese rule in Tibet in nearly 20 years that has, according to Tibet’s government-in-exile, killed some 140 people.
Briefing reporters on the call, Bush’s national security advisor Stephen Hadley said the President pushed hard for restraint in Tibet as well as the need for consultation with representatives of the Dalai Lama. Talks between the Chinese authorities and the Dalai Lama’s envoys were suspended since the summer of last year. Beijing was prepared to continue contacts and consultations with the Dalai Lama, but Hu, according to Hadley, said the Tibetan spiritual leader had to stop pushing for Tibetan independence and halt crime and violence in the territory. The Dalai Lama has rejected the claims, saying he only wanted “meaningful autonomy."
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown had telephoned his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao a week ago and pressed the latter to end the violence. French President Nicolas Sarkozy this week floated the possibility of boycotting the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony if China refused to open a dialogue with the Dalai Lama on Tibet. Czech President Vaclav Klaus said on Wednesday that he would not attend the Games in Beijing. But the White House has said Bush would be at the event, drawing a distinction between sports and politics.

Tibet IssueMr. Bush have no right to interfer china internal problem infact not only china but every country internal problem no one have right to interfer as long as they can solve their own way, as long as it’s not effection other country but they should help if asked for help that’s why we have UN.
But we all are free to express our opinion, there’s nothing in this world which only have a positive site same since China take over to Tibet definately tibetan had bee run away from their own lad to other country as refugee, their identity & cultural is in big danger to loose but brighter site is Tibet has been develop a lot, Tibetan lifestyle has been uplifted, per capita income has been increase, getting educated there’s a lot China has done to Tibet if they don’t Tibet still will be an isolated country from the world. So all the matter should solve by negotiating, understanding & diplomatic way instead of voilence and other country should stay away from puring ghee in fire. |

Actually
Unregistered;74312: Cultural genocide is no big deal, it happens everywhere, all the time. For example, the South Americans all speak Spanish instead of Mayan, and worships at churches rather than at the Mayan temples, since the Spaniards massacred their ancestors.
The Spaniards killed very few people by direct military means!
The Mayans killed each other off in far greater numbers and the real culprit was disease brought by the Spanish! |
