Radio-Controlled Jets, Music, Movie On Tap

Plays, music, a park opening, radio-controlled jets and more are competing for your attention this weekend.

"DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST" is performed by Pied Piper Players at 7:30 tonight and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Mirror Center, Lakeland.

Admission is $16 adults, $10 ages 18 and younger; 603-PLAY (7529).

JERRY MINCEY, along with Ron Canady, perform today as part of the Joe Prine & Friends concert series.

Show time is 8 p.m. at Arts on the Park in Lakeland.

Admission is $7 adults, $5 students, younger than 12 free; 680-ARTS.

FLORIDA JETS 2006, with radio-controlled jets, is held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.

Cost is $5, younger than age 7 free.

THE fX CONCERT is presented twice this weekend at Bush Chapel, Southeastern University in Lakeland. Show time is 7:30 tonight and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Cost is $3; 667-5000.

"TRANSAMERICA" screens at the Polk Theatre in Lakeland this weekend.

Movie critic Roger Ebert says, "Felicity Huffman plays a man named Bree, who is only days away from sex change surgery when informed that 17 years ago she fathered a son. Her therapist refuses surgery until she deals with the child (Kevin Zegers)."

The movie is rated R; for sexual content, nudity, language and drug use. Show times are 8 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $6 adults, $4 students/seniors.
