Property sales are up; realtors name officers

Property sales climbed $1.6 million over last year in the Arkansas City area, and the average selling price rose by nearly $2,000.

The Arkansas City Board of Realtors announced annual sales figures for 2005 at its banquet Thursday night at Cowley College.

The number of local sales increased by 22 over 2004 to 217 last year. Overall, local Realtors sold $13,051,995 worth of homes, land and commercial properties, up from $11,415,599 in 2004. The average selling price in 2005 was $60,147, up from $58,541 a year ago.

"That's pretty good for our market," outgoing board President Sue Turney said.

The Winfield board also presented their year-end totals at the joint-banquet. Total sales in the Winfield area hit $20,321,197, up $6.2 million over last year.

The number of sales jumped from 167 to 218.

The average per home price was $93,217, up from $87,710 in 2004.
