Injury woes for Knights

22/08/2006 12:48:02

A huge concern for the New Zealand Knights as they approach their opening game of soccer's A-League against Newcastle at North Harbour Stadium on Sunday.

Both top strikers are injured, with Dani Rodrigues likely to miss a month with a hamstring strain, and Sean Devine suffering a corked thigh and ankle sprain against the Queensland Roar in last weekend's final pre-season game.

The pair were two of six players to suffer injuries.

Utility Noah Hickey, whose knee injury has turned out to be just swelling, says Manager Paul Nevin is looking to secure another striker at some stage or another.

Noah Hickey will probably miss this weekend's game, but be back for the next.
